Seven seats on every version, Isofix in the third row and a back row reviewers rate for average-sized adults.
Quick answer
Yes. Every UK Santa Fe, hybrid or plug-in hybrid, has seven seats as standard, and only the Calligraphy can be switched to six seats as a £1,000 option.
Best for Families who use the third row often
The Hyundai Santa Fe 7-seater has one of the roomier SUV third rows: reviewers rate it for average-sized adults, particularly once the middle row slides forward a little, and two of its four Isofix points are on the third-row seats.
There are caveats. Euro NCAP gave the Santa Fe four stars in 2024, or five with an optional safety pack, and Hyundai publishes no boot figure with all seven seats in use. Its towing figures also differ sharply between sources.

We have no verified boot figure with all seven seats in use yet. With five seats in use the boot holds 628 litres, rising to a maximum of 1,949 litres.
Hyundai quotes its boot on the VDA method, so its figures compare directly with other VDA numbers: 628 litres with the third row folded and 1,949 with both rear rows down for the hybrid, and 621 and 1,942 for the plug-in hybrid. Set aside the 725-litre figure on Hyundai's model page, which comes with no stated basis.
Kia quotes 813 litres for the Sorento with its third row folded but does not state a method, so the real gap between the two may be smaller than the numbers suggest.
How it is measured Hyundai UK VDA figures for the hybrid: 628 litres with the third row folded and 1,949 with rows two and three folded (621 and 1,942 for the plug-in hybrid). Hyundai UK gives no figure with all seven seats up; carwow says three or four carry-on cases fit in that mode. Hyundai's model page also quotes a 725-litre boot without stating the basis.
At 4,830mm (4.83m, 15ft 10in) long, the Santa Fe is 44mm shorter than the median SUV, and the 17th shortest of the 37 SUVs we track. It is 1,900mm wide without mirrors (2,206mm with them) and 1,780mm tall. The wheelbase, the distance between the front and rear axles, is 2,815mm.
Third row suitsAverage-sized adults
carwow found an adult can sit fairly comfortably back there once the middle row slides forward a notch or two, although the low seat base leaves knees raised on longer journeys. Auto Express rates headroom as plentiful and says the seats work for more than occasional use if middle-row passengers give up a little legroom. A button on the middle-row seat shoulder powers it forward for access, and Auto Express notes grab handles recessed into the rear pillars.
This is where the Santa Fe earns its place. With the middle row nudged forward, the back seats work for adults on more than the occasional trip, and the Isofix points on both third-row seats mean child seats can go in the back too.
The top Calligraphy can be ordered as a six-seater if you prefer that layout. The Kia Sorento matches the Santa Fe's third-row Isofix, but reviewers rate its back row for adults on short trips only.
4Isofix points
The Santa Fe has four Isofix points: two on the middle-row bench and two on the third-row seats. That is enough for three Isofix child seats, though whether three fit side by side depends on the seats you choose.
The plug-in hybrid can cover up to 34 miles on electric power alone.

Hyundai UK recommended on-the-road price for the seven-seat Premium 1.6T 239PS Hybrid 2WD, from its pricing, tech and spec sheet (prices effective 1 October 2026, data correct October 2026); the April 2026 sheet had it at £49,140. Hyundai UK's model page headlines a slightly lower 'from £49,090'. The cheapest plug-in hybrid is the Premium at £53,245 on the same basis. Review sites quote lower starting figures (carwow £48,640, Auto Express £47,900) without naming the version.

Our verdict Reviewers rate the Santa Fe's third row for average-sized adults, and it has Isofix on both back seats and seven seats on every version. The catches are a four-star standard Euro NCAP rating and no published boot figure with all seven seats up.
At 1,780mm tall and 2,206mm wide across its mirrors, the Santa Fe needs a generous parking space. The hybrid comes with two- or four-wheel drive, while the plug-in hybrid is four-wheel drive only and gives 33.6 miles of electric range, according to Hyundai UK.
Every version is automatic. If you can charge at home and mostly drive locally, the plug-in hybrid makes most sense; otherwise the cheaper hybrid avoids the charging routine. Compare the alternatives in our list of hybrid 7-seaters.

Yes. With seven seats you can have hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, and the plug-in hybrid's electric-only range is up to 34 miles.
Hyundai does not publish a figure for the boot with all seven seats in use, and none of the reviews checked gives one either. Carwow says three or four carry-on cases fit in that layout.
For rivals with a published seven-seat figure, see our guide to 7-seater boot space compared.
Only with an optional extra. Euro NCAP gave the Santa Fe four stars in 2024 as standard and five stars with the optional safety pack, which Auto Express says is standard from Ultimate trim upwards.
If a five-star car matters to you, choose Ultimate or above, or confirm that the pack is fitted to any car you are offered.
Hyundai UK lists 2,000kg braked for the hybrid and 1,700kg for the plug-in hybrid. Auto Express quotes only 1,110kg for every version, a large gap that the sources do not explain.
Ask the dealer for the towing limit of the exact car, in writing, before you buy it for a caravan.
