The Chery 7-seater range is made up of the Tiggo 8 SUV, sold with a 1.6 turbo petrol engine or as a plug-in hybrid, and the larger Tiggo 9, a plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive. Every UK example of both has seven seats as standard, and neither is offered as a diesel or a fully electric car.
The Tiggo 9 is longer, at 4,810mm against 4,725mm, with more boot space and up to 91 miles of electric range against 56 miles for the Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrid. The third row is another matter: Auto Express found the Tiggo 9's no roomier than the Tiggo 8's, and both suit adults only on short trips.

Start with the Chery Tiggo 8. It is the cheaper car, you can choose petrol or plug-in hybrid power, and Euro NCAP awarded it five stars in 2025 after Chery fixed a fault that made a side curtain airbag deploy incorrectly. Luggage space is tight with every seat in use: Auto Express quotes 117 litres.
The Tiggo 9 adds power and electric range, with 428PS combined, all-wheel drive and a 34.46kWh battery. Sytner and carwow quote 143 litres of boot space with seven seats up and 819 litres with five, although Auto Express gives only 448 litres with the third row folded. carwow and Auto Express say Euro NCAP has not yet crash tested it. It is closely related to the Jaecoo 8, which is worth comparing.
Two: the Chery Tiggo 8 and the Chery Tiggo 9.

The Chery Tiggo 9, with 143 litres with all seven seats in use.
Yes. The Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 are both seven-seat SUVs, and every one sold in the UK has seven seats as standard. The Tiggo 8 comes in Aspire or Summit trim with petrol or plug-in hybrid power, while the Tiggo 9 is sold only as the Summit plug-in hybrid.
The Tiggo 8 has a five-star Euro NCAP rating from 2025, based on tests of the Tiggo 7 plug-in hybrid plus extra checks of the Tiggo 8's third row. The Tiggo 9 had not been crash tested by Euro NCAP when carwow and Auto Express reviewed it.
The Tiggo 9, with up to 91 miles from its 34.46kWh battery. The Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid manages 56 miles from an 18.4kWh battery, and EV Fleet World quotes a total range of 745 miles. Both appear in our list of plug-in hybrid 7-seaters.
