The Audi 7-seater range covers the Q7 and the new, larger Q9, both SUVs with seven seats as standard. Each uses a 3.0-litre V6 diesel with mild hybrid assistance, an eight-speed automatic gearbox and quattro four-wheel drive, so for now there is no petrol, plug-in hybrid or electric Audi seven-seater.
The Q7 is 5,056mm long, and its third row raises and folds electrically and suits adults on shorter trips. The Q9 stretches to 5,310mm, and Auto Express found six-foot adults fit in its heated third-row seats with knee room and headroom to spare. UK orders for the Q9 opened in August 2026.

The Audi Q7 is the one most buyers will want. Every version has seven seats, adaptive air suspension and four-wheel steering, and it is rated to tow 3,500kg. Isofix mounts are listed for the front passenger seat, the outer middle-row seats and the third row, which helps if you have several children in car seats. The compromise is luggage: carwow quotes 210 litres with all seven seats in use.
The Q9 is the choice if adults will use the back row regularly. Its Vorsprung trim can also be ordered as a six-seater with the Lounge package, and Select Car Leasing reports Isofix on all three middle-row seats of the seven-seat version. No boot figure with all seven seats up has been confirmed yet; Auto Express quotes up to 850 litres with five seats in use.
Euro NCAP had not crash tested the new Q7 when carwow reviewed it. Audi plans to add petrol and plug-in hybrid Q7s later, but Motorpoint reports that the plug-in hybrid will stay a five-seater because its battery sits where the third row would go.
The Audi Q7, from £81,665.
Yes. The Q7 and the larger Q9 both have seven seats as standard in the UK, and the Q9 Vorsprung can be ordered as a six-seater instead. Both are big SUVs with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel and quattro four-wheel drive. Our list of 7-seater SUVs compares them with other seven-seat SUVs.
Not a plug-in hybrid or electric one. The Q7 and Q9 both pair their diesel engine with mild hybrid assistance. The previous-generation Q7 TFSI e plug-in hybrid had five seats, and Motorpoint reports that the plug-in Q7 Audi plans for the new generation will also be a five-seater.
If you need a plug-in hybrid with a third row, see our list of plug-in hybrid 7-seaters.
The Q9. Auto Express says six-foot adults fit in its heated third-row seats with knee room and headroom to spare. In the Q7, carwow found enough headroom for adults on shorter trips, though taller people feel a bit hemmed in. Its rearmost seats are heated too.
