The Nissan 7-seater is the X-Trail SUV, but only in four-wheel-drive e-Power e-4ORCE form, where seven seats are an option; the front-wheel-drive X-Trail is a five-seater. Since the 2026 facelift every new X-Trail has been an e-Power hybrid.
The extra seats are tight. Reviewers see the third row as somewhere for children on short or occasional trips, and with all seven seats up the boot drops to 177 litres. The Qashqai+2, a stretched seven-seat Qashqai sold from 2008 to 2014, is a used alternative with almost no luggage space when its third row is in use.

New, it has to be a Nissan X-Trail e-4ORCE with the third row added. Sources disagree on which trims offer it: Auto Express says any trim once e-4ORCE is chosen, while carwow lists seven-seat versions only for N-Trek and Tekna, so confirm with your dealer. Seven seats also cut the braked towing limit to 1,650kg, against 1,800kg for the five-seat e-4ORCE, and leave 485 litres with the third row folded rather than the five-seater's 575.
Isofix is limited to the outer middle-row seats, with none in the third row. Used X-Trails from before the facelift were also offered with seven seats and a 163PS mild hybrid petrol engine, which Nissan has since dropped. Auto Express reports that an all-new X-Trail is due in the UK in 2028.
A used Qashqai+2 is slightly longer than the standard Qashqai. Auto Express gives it 450 litres of boot space with five seats in use, prefers the dCi diesels to the thirsty petrol engines and notes that four-wheel drive came only with an automatic gearbox.
No longer sold new, but easy to find secondhand.

One: the Nissan X-Trail.
Yes, the X-Trail, in four-wheel-drive e-Power e-4ORCE form with the optional third row. Used, the Qashqai+2 and pre-facelift seven-seat X-Trails are other ways into a Nissan seven-seater.
The standard Qashqai is not. Nissan's seven-seat version was the Qashqai+2, a slightly longer Qashqai with a third row, sold new from 2008 to 2014. Auto Express describes its rearmost seats as cramped, and Parkers says they are not really intended for adults.
Yes. Every new X-Trail is an e-Power hybrid with a 1.73kWh battery, and seven seats are available with the four-wheel-drive e-4ORCE version. See our list of hybrid 7-seaters for alternatives.
