Every Volvo 7-seater is a large SUV with seven seats as standard: the XC90, sold as a B5 mild hybrid or a T8 plug-in hybrid, and the fully electric EX90.
The EX90 is the longer car, at 5,037mm against 4,953mm, and Volvo quotes 324 litres of boot space with all seven seats up against the XC90's 247. Both of its third-row seats have Isofix, which Auto Express calls unusual, but reviewers say that row is best kept for children. In the XC90, Auto Express found six-foot adults could sit in the back row behind people of similar height, though it was a tight fit.

The Volvo XC90 suits families who want a plug-in hybrid or need to tow. Volvo UK rates the T8 at up to 42.9 miles of electric range, and the XC90 is rated to tow 2,400kg braked. Its five-star Euro NCAP rating comes from a 2015 test and has since expired, carwow notes. Auto Express reports that a revised plug-in hybrid with a 41.2kWh battery and a claimed 99 miles of electric range is due towards the end of 2026.
The EX90 is the better choice if young children will use the third row in car seats, with Isofix on both rearmost seats and a five-star Euro NCAP rating from 2025. The Single Motor has a 92kWh battery and up to 351.1 miles of range, and the Twin Motor a 106kWh battery and up to 383.4 miles. The third row folds into the floor at the press of a button.

The Volvo EX90, with 324 litres with all seven seats in use.
Yes. The XC90 and the electric EX90 both have seven seats as standard in the UK, and Volvo UK's EX90 page also mentions a six-seat version. Every Volvo seven-seater is an SUV.
Yes, the EX90, with up to 383.4 miles of range for the Twin Motor. The XC90 T8 is a plug-in hybrid with up to 42.9 miles of electric range. Compare them with other electric 7-seaters and plug-in hybrid 7-seaters.
The XC90, according to reviewers. carwow rates its rearmost seats fine for adults on short runs, and the cushions are not so low that knees ride up. In the EX90, carwow found the third row cramped for adults, and you have to fold a middle-row seat to climb in.
