Seat 7-seater cars

There is no new Seat 7-seater on sale in the UK. Seat ended Tarraco production by the second quarter of 2024 to make room for the Cupra Terramar, and Alhambra production stopped in March 2020, so a Seat seven-seater today has to be a used car.

The two suit different families. Every UK Tarraco is a seven-seat SUV with a third row best kept for children, while the Alhambra is an MPV with sliding side doors and a back row that carwow says fully grown adults will find comfortable enough. The Alhambra also has more boot space with all seven seats up: 267 litres against the Tarraco's 230.

Which Seat 7-seater should you choose?

A used Seat Tarraco is the newer car, sold from 2018 to 2024 with petrol or diesel engines and three Isofix points, on the front passenger seat and the outer middle-row seats. Honest John recommends the 2.0 TDI diesel and reports ongoing problems with the 1.5 TSI petrol that Seat has not resolved. Its five-star Euro NCAP rating from 2019 expired in January 2026, according to The Car Expert.

A used Seat Alhambra is the roomier choice for seven people. The Mk2, sold from 2010 to 2020, has three individual middle-row seats that tumble forward with a single lever, and electric sliding doors on the top two trims. Auto Express suggests checking cars with a panoramic roof for water leaks and says the DSG automatic has not proved as reliable as the manual.

If you would rather buy new, the Skoda Kodiaq at 4,758mm and the Volkswagen Tayron at 4,792mm are seven-seat SUVs close to the Tarraco's 4,735mm length.

Seat 7-seater questions

Does Seat still make a 7-seater?

No. Seat ended Tarraco production by the second quarter of 2024 to make room for the Cupra Terramar, according to Autocar, and the Alhambra was discontinued in 2020. Both can be bought used, and our used 7-seater guide compares them with other second-hand options.

Was there a hybrid Seat Tarraco?

Sources disagree. Honest John and CarGurus mention a plug-in hybrid Tarraco and Parkers lists a hybrid fuel type, but Auto Express and carwow say no electrified Tarraco was sold in the UK. Our Tarraco page covers the petrol and diesel versions.
