A plug-in hybrid with an 83-mile electric range, but only the Luxury trim has seven seats.
Quick answer
Yes, in some versions. Only the Luxury trim has seven seats; the Executive is a six-seater with two captain's chairs in the middle row, and both use the same plug-in hybrid.
Best for Plug-in hybrid buyers who need seven seats only occasionally
The Jaecoo 8 7-seater is the brand's first car with three rows of seats, and UK deliveries began in May 2026. The seven-seat Luxury is the cheaper of its two trims, and both use the same 428PS plug-in hybrid.
Its strongest card is an official electric range of 83 miles. The back row, though, is occasional seating for children. Jaecoo quotes 200 litres of boot with all seven seats up, but Auto Express and carwow measured 110, and Euro NCAP has not yet crash tested the car.

With all seven seats in use the boot holds 200 litres, the 12th smallest of the 29 SUVs with a published boot figure and 40 litres less than the median. With five seats in use the boot holds 738 litres, rising to a maximum of 2,021 litres.
Plan around the lower boot figure. Jaecoo quotes 200 litres behind the third row, but Auto Express and carwow's review both give 110 litres, roughly half. With the third row folded Jaecoo quotes 738 litres, and Auto Express, carwow and Motoring Research put the maximum at 2,021 litres with the rear seats folded.
In practice it is a five-seater with a big boot that can carry two children in the back when needed.
How it is measured Jaecoo UK gives 200 litres with all three rows in use and 738 litres with the third row folded; the 2,021 litre maximum with the rear seats folded comes from Auto Express, carwow and Motoring Research. Measurement basis not stated. Auto Express and carwow's review quote 110 litres with seven seats up.
At 4,820mm (4.82m, 15ft 10in) long, the Jaecoo 8 is 54mm shorter than the median SUV, and the 16th shortest of the 37 SUVs we track. It is 1,930mm wide without mirrors and 1,710mm tall. The wheelbase, the distance between the front and rear axles, is 2,820mm.
Third row suitsChildren
Carwow finds the third row cramped, short of head and leg room for adults, and fit only for occasional use by children or very small adults. Auto Express rates it too small for grown-ups and hard to reach: in the seven-seater you clamber over the folded middle row, and in the six-seater you squeeze through a narrow gap. Carwow adds that the Executive's middle-row chairs do not slide forward, which makes access harder.
The back row is for children, and for short trips. Both Isofix points are on the outer middle-row seats and there are none in the third row, so younger children in car seats have to sit in row two.
Getting into the back is awkward in both the seven-seat Luxury and the six-seat Executive, so the third row suits agile children best. If regular third-row use matters, start with the 7-seaters with the most third-row space instead.
2Isofix points
The Jaecoo 8 has two Isofix points: outer seats in row 2. None are in the third row.

Our verdict The Jaecoo 8 makes most sense as a plug-in hybrid five-seater with two spare seats: its official electric range is 83 miles, but the third row is for children and reviewers measured only 110 litres of boot with every seat up. It has no Euro NCAP rating yet.
The Jaecoo 8 is a plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive and an official electric range of 83 miles, so if you can charge at home, most short local trips can run on electricity. Jaecoo quotes a 30 to 80 per cent DC rapid charge in about 20 minutes at 70kW, and braked towing of 1,600kg.
It is 4,820mm long and 1,930mm wide without its mirrors. No width with mirrors was found in Jaecoo's figures, so check clearances with the mirrors open. Our list of plug-in hybrid 7-seaters covers the alternatives.

The Jaecoo 8 is 4,820mm long (4.82m, 15ft 10in), 1,930mm wide without its mirrors and 1,710mm tall.
Two: outer seats in row 2. There are no Isofix points in the third row.
Not comfortably. The third row is best kept for children.
Yes. With seven seats you can have plug-in hybrid versions, and the plug-in hybrid's electric-only range is up to 83 miles.
Not yet. Euro NCAP had not tested the Jaecoo 8 when Auto Express and The Car Expert reported on it, although Jaecoo's UK website promotes "5 star safety".
Until an independent result is published, there is no rating to compare with rivals such as the Kia Sorento and Skoda Kodiaq, which both have five Euro NCAP stars.
Choose the Luxury if you need seven seats: it is the only seven-seat version, and it costs less than the six-seat Executive. Both use the same plug-in hybrid.
The Executive's two middle-row captain's chairs do not slide forward, which carwow says makes the third row harder to reach, so the six-seater suits families who mostly carry four or five people.
The Chery Tiggo 9 is closely related to the Jaecoo 8, according to Autocar and the Express & Star. Both are 428PS plug-in hybrids with all-wheel drive, and neither has a Euro NCAP rating yet. The Tiggo 9 comes only as a seven-seat Summit and is slightly shorter, at 4,810mm.
Reviewers rate the Tiggo 9's third row more kindly, as fit for adults on short trips. Sytner and carwow quote 143 litres of boot with seven seats up, between Jaecoo's 200-litre claim and the 110 litres reviewers measured in the Jaecoo 8.
