Seven seats come only on the entry Nativa, and Mitsubishi itself calls the layout a 5+2
Quick answer
Yes, in some versions. Only the entry-level Nativa trim has seven seats; the higher-spec Diamond is a five-seater.
Best for Occasional extra seats with plug-in hybrid four-wheel drive
Like every Outlander, the Mitsubishi Outlander 7-seater is a plug-in hybrid with twin electric motors, four-wheel drive and up to 53 miles of electric range.
Mitsubishi itself calls the Nativa a 5+2, so treat the third row as occasional seating for small children. This Outlander marked Mitsubishi's return to new-car sales in the UK after a five-year break, going on sale in May 2026.

We have no verified boot figure with all seven seats in use yet. With five seats in use the boot holds 867 litres, rising to a maximum of 1,821 litres.
Mitsubishi Outlander boot space is hard to pin down. Mitsubishi UK publishes no boot figures, and we found none with all seven seats in use. An Auto Express group test measured 867 litres with the rear seats up and 1,821 litres with them folded, both to the roof, in a five-seat Diamond; The Car Expert quotes up to 1,600 litres with the rear seats folded.
Roof-height figures run higher than the shelf-height numbers many makers quote, so compare them with care.
How it is measured Figures from an Auto Express group test, measured to the roof (test car listed as a Diamond). The Car Expert quotes up to 1,600 litres with the rear seats folded. Mitsubishi UK publishes no boot volumes, and no figure was found for the boot with all seven seats in use.
At 4,720mm (4.72m, 15ft 6in) long, the Outlander PHEV is 154mm shorter than the median SUV, and the 5th shortest of the 37 SUVs we track. It is 1,862mm wide without mirrors and 1,751mm tall. The wheelbase, the distance between the front and rear axles, is 2,704mm.
Third row suitsChildren
Mitsubishi itself describes the seven-seat Nativa as a 5+2, and the third row is not offered on the Diamond. Reviewers call the back seats cramped and fit only for small children on short journeys.
Mitsubishi describes the seven-seat Nativa as a 5+2, and that is the right way to think of it. Auto Express and The Car Expert call the back seats cramped and fit only for small children on short trips, so do not plan on carrying adults back there.
Mitsubishi lists two Isofix points without saying where they are. If you need more, see our guide to 7-seaters with three Isofix points.

Our verdict The Outlander is a four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid SUV with a long warranty, but only the entry Nativa has seven seats. Mitsubishi calls it a 5+2, and reviewers say the third row suits small children on short trips.
The Outlander is 4,720mm long, 1,862mm wide without mirrors and 1,751mm tall, and it can tow 1,600kg braked. Auto Express quotes a 39kW maximum charging rate, and Mitsubishi quotes 32 minutes for a 0 to 80 percent charge.
Power claims vary: the UK brochure lists 220kW (299PS), the Mitsubishi model page says over 300bhp, and Auto Express quoted 304bhp at the price announcement but 295bhp in its road test. Compare it with other plug-in hybrid 7-seaters.

Two.
Not comfortably. The third row is best kept for children.
Yes. With seven seats you can have plug-in hybrid versions, and the plug-in hybrid's electric-only range is up to 53 miles.
No. The Diamond is a five-seater, and only the entry-level Nativa is an Outlander PHEV 7-seater, so choosing seven seats rules out the higher-spec trim.
The Car Expert reported in July 2026 that it had not yet been rated by Euro NCAP. Check Euro NCAP's published results for any later rating before you buy.
An eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty comes as standard (Mitsubishi UK).
