A compact SUV with two optional child-sized seats that fold into the boot floor when not in use.
Quick answer
Yes, in some versions. Seven seats are an option on the Turbo 100 petrol manual and the Hybrid automatic (carwow lists seven-seat Max versions of both), but the electric e-C3 Aircross is sold only as a five-seater.
Best for Small families who carry two extra children now and then
The Citroen C3 Aircross 7-seater is a compact SUV with two extra seats that fold into the boot floor, and at 4,395mm long it is one of the shortest 7-seaters on sale.
Citroen pitches the third row at occasional use by children, Auto Express reports, and with all seven seats up the boot shrinks to 40 litres. Fold those seats away and there are 330 litres, so think of it as a five-seater that can take two extra children now and then.

With all seven seats in use the boot holds 40 litres, the smallest of the 29 SUVs with a published boot figure and 200 litres less than the median. With five seats in use the boot holds 330 litres.
Forty litres is little more than a couple of soft bags, so with seven aboard any real luggage needs another home. The figure that matters day to day is 330 litres with the third row folded, and even that is well short of the 460 litres in the five-seat C3 Aircross. Choose seven seats only if you will use them.
Auto Express quotes larger figures than Citroen Ireland, carwow and Fleet News, so plan around the smaller numbers until Citroen UK publishes its own. Our 7-seater boot space comparison shows how other cars measure up.
How it is measured Seven-seat version figures from Citroen Ireland, matched by Fleet News and carwow: 40 litres with all seven seats in use and 330 litres with the third row folded; measurement basis not stated. The five-seat car offers up to 460 litres, or up to 1,600 litres with the rear seats folded (Citroen UK). No maximum is published for the seven-seat version (carwow's spec table gives a 1,289 to 1,600 litre range without splitting it by version). Auto Express quotes different figures of 70, 420 and 1,720 litres.
At 4,395mm (4.39m, 14ft 5in) long, the C3 Aircross is 479mm shorter than the median SUV, and the 2nd shortest of the 37 SUVs we track. It is 1,660mm tall. The wheelbase, the distance between the front and rear axles, is 2,672mm.
Third row suitsChildren
Auto Express reports that Citroen itself pitches the third row at occasional use by children, and found an average-height adult's knees only just clear the seat ahead because the cushion sits so low. The two extra seats split 50/50 and fold into the floor, leaving a flat load area with a cover when they are not needed. Access means folding the middle row out of the way, which carwow says leaves a reasonable gap; the third row has no Isofix points.
Seats six and seven work best as occasional seats for children, such as a school run with a couple of friends. There are no Isofix points back there, so younger children in Isofix seats need the two outer middle-row seats. Reaching the third row means folding a middle-row seat out of the way, so keep one side of the middle row free of fixed child seats if the back row gets regular use.
If teenagers or adults will sit back there, see our guide to 7-seaters with the most third-row space.
2Isofix points
The C3 Aircross has two Isofix points: outer seats in row 2. None are in the third row.

Our verdict The C3 Aircross is a cheap, compact way to carry seven, as long as two of them are children on short trips. With 40 litres of boot space when every seat is used, treat it as a five-seater with two occasional extras.
For an automatic with seven seats you need the Hybrid 145, as the Turbo 100 petrol comes only with a manual gearbox. The current C3 Aircross had not been crash tested by Euro NCAP when Auto Express and carwow reviewed it, so there is no independent star rating to compare yet.
Towing limits and published widths vary between sources, so if you tow a trailer or have a narrow garage, confirm the figures for your exact version with Citroen. For similar-sized options, see our list of small 7-seater cars.
40 litres with all seven seats in use, 330 litres with five seats in use.
The Citroen C3 Aircross is 4,395mm long (4.39m, 14ft 5in) and 1,660mm tall.
Two: outer seats in row 2. There are no Isofix points in the third row.
Not comfortably. The third row is best kept for children.
Yes. With seven seats you can have mild hybrid versions.
Yes, but only with the Hybrid 145, which uses the e-DCS6 automatic gearbox. The other seven-seat version, the Turbo 100 petrol, is manual only, and the electric e-C3 Aircross is automatic but five-seat only.
carwow lists seven-seat Max versions of both the petrol and the hybrid.
Auto Express says the seven-seat option adds £765. Citroen UK does not show a seven-seat price on its website, so the cheapest seven-seat version we found is the 1.2 Turbo Max manual on carwow's price list. The price section on this page shows the latest checked figure.
The published figures disagree. carwow quotes 1,250kg to 1,300kg braked, while Auto Express gives 1,500kg for the petrol and 1,250kg for the hybrid. We could not confirm a manufacturer figure, so check the limit for your exact version with Citroen before you buy a trailer or caravan.
