A compact premium SUV with seven seats as standard, petrol hybrid power and Isofix listed for the third row.
Quick answer
Yes. Every new UK GLB, including all three petrol hybrid versions, comes with seven seats as standard.
Best for Young families who need child seats in the third row
At 4,732mm long, the Mercedes GLB 7-seater is compact for a seven-seat SUV. The new model, launched in 2026, has three petrol hybrid versions, from the GLB 180 to the GLB 220 4MATIC, all with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Auto Express rates the third row fine for small children and probably teenagers, but not for most adults. The big draw for young families is Isofix: Auto Express counted points on both third-row seats as well as the middle row and front passenger seat, although some may be optional. Mercedes does not publish a boot figure with all seven seats up.

We have no verified boot figure with all seven seats in use yet. With five seats in use the boot holds 540 litres.
The GLB's boot figures need care. With the third row folded, plan around the 480 litres quoted by Auto Express and CarGurus rather than Mercedes' 540 litres, as the measuring method behind the larger number is not stated. No source we checked gives a figure with all seven seats in use, so if you will often carry seven people and luggage together, take your buggy or cases to a dealer and try them.
For seven-seaters that do publish an all-seats-up figure, see our 7-seater boot space comparison.
How it is measured Mercedes UK lists a 540 litre boot for the seven-seat GLB 180 Sport without stating the measuring basis. Auto Express and CarGurus instead give 480 litres for a seven-seat GLB with the third row folded. Auto Express gives the maximum as 1,605 litres in its March 2026 first look but 1,715 litres in its August 2026 review, so no maximum is given here.
At 4,732mm (4.73m, 15ft 6in) long, the GLB is 142mm shorter than the median SUV, and the joint 7th shortest of the 37 SUVs we track. It is 1,861mm wide without mirrors (2,029mm with them) and 1,681mm tall.
Third row suitsTeenagers
Auto Express found the back row easier to climb into than expected, but says most adults will not sit there comfortably and rates it fine for small children and probably teenagers. Its later full review adds that only agile passengers get in easily and that legroom is tight. The middle row slides forward by up to 140mm to share space with the third row.
Isofix is the GLB's strongest card for young families. Auto Express's first look counted Isofix on both third-row seats, so children in car seats can ride in either rear row rather than only the middle. Its later review says four points are standard, so confirm how many your car has before ordering.
For adults the back row is a squeeze, and sliding the middle row forward to help them takes legroom from the people in front.
5Isofix points
The GLB has five Isofix points: front passenger seat, outer seats in row 2 and both third-row seats (CarGurus says up to five, so some may be optional). That is enough for three Isofix child seats, though whether three fit side by side depends on the seats you choose.
Gearbox: automatic only.

From£42,070
Mercedes-Benz UK OTR price for the GLB 180 Sport, which its technical data lists with seven seats. Auto Express lists the same car at £41,770 on its prices page and reported £42,050 when UK prices were announced.
Prices checked October 2026.
The DVSA lists one recall for the GLB:
5 June 2026 · Ref R/2026/203 · 32 vehicles
Software version of communication module
Mercedes-Benz AG has determined that on certain CLA (174 platform) and GLB (244 platform) vehicles the software of the communication module might not meet the intended specification.
Remedy: As a remedy Mercedes-Benz AG via its Mercedes-Benz service partners will update the software on the affected vehicles.

Our verdict The GLB packs seven standard seats into a compact premium SUV, and Isofix listed for the third row makes it unusually flexible for young families. Adults will find the back row tight, and Mercedes does not quote a boot figure with every seat up.
Every GLB is a full hybrid that never needs plugging in: a 1,499cc petrol engine works with a small electric motor and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. At 4,732mm long and 2,029mm wide with its mirrors out, it is compact by seven-seat SUV standards.
The new GLB had not been crash tested by Euro NCAP when Auto Express reviewed it in August 2026. See every Mercedes-Benz 7-seater or compare it with other hybrid 7-seaters.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB is 4,732mm long (4.73m, 15ft 6in), 1,861mm wide without its mirrors and 1,681mm tall.
Five: front passenger seat, outer seats in row 2 and both third-row seats (CarGurus says up to five, so some may be optional).
It is tight for adults. The third row is best for teenagers and children.
No. Mercedes UK classes the GLB as a full hybrid: a 1,499cc petrol engine works with a 22kW (30hp) electric motor and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic in every version. There is no charging cable to deal with, as the battery tops itself up while you drive.
It depends on the engine. Mercedes UK lists braked towing limits of 1,600kg for the GLB 180, 1,800kg for the GLB 200 and 2,000kg for the four-wheel-drive GLB 220 4MATIC.
Not yet. Auto Express said in August 2026 that the latest GLB had not been crash tested by Euro NCAP, so there is no star rating for the new model to compare with other 7-seaters.
