Seven seats come from an optional 5+2 third row, best kept for children, on a 110 rated to tow 3,495kg.
Quick answer
Yes, in some versions. Seven seats come from the optional 5+2 third row on the Defender 110. Land Rover's spec sheet lists it for the entry D250 Standard, and Auto Express and carwow both list seven-seat D350 diesels, but neither lists the P300e plug-in hybrid with seven seats.
Best for Families who tow and need two occasional child seats
The Land Rover Defender 7-seater layout on the 110 is called 5+2, with two extra seats behind the usual five. Land Rover's spec sheet confirms it for the D250 diesel and Auto Express and carwow list seven-seat D350 diesels, but no price is published for the option, so ask a dealer for a quote.
The third row is for children: Land Rover's figures give it 517mm of legroom against 975mm in the middle row. With all seven seats in use the boot holds 160 litres (dry), and the 5+2 car is rated to tow 3,495kg braked, almost the same as the five-seater.

With all seven seats in use the boot holds 160 litres, the 7th smallest of the 29 SUVs with a published boot figure and 80 litres less than the median. With five seats in use the boot holds 743 litres, rising to a maximum of 1,826 litres.
Land Rover publishes 'dry' figures and larger 'wet' ones measured as if the boot were filled with liquid; the dry numbers are the better guide and the ones we compare. On that basis, 160 litres with all seven seats up holds little more than a few soft bags, while 743 litres with the third row folded is a good five-seat boot.
Choosing 5+2 also trims the five-seat boot, as a five-seat 110 has 786 litres (dry) behind the middle row. Our 7-seater boot space comparison puts those figures in context.
How it is measured Land Rover 'dry' figures for a 110 with 5+2 seats (D250 Standard spec sheet); its 'wet' figures are 231, 916 and 2,233 litres. carwow quotes the same 160 and 743 litres. A five-seat 110 has 786 litres dry behind row 2.
At 4,758mm (4.76m, 15ft 7in) long, the Defender 110 is 116mm shorter than the median SUV, and the joint 9th shortest of the 37 SUVs we track. It is 2,008mm wide without mirrors (2,105mm with them) and 1,972mm tall. The wheelbase, the distance between the front and rear axles, is 3,022mm.
Third row suitsChildren
Land Rover's 5+2 figures give the third row 517mm of legroom, against 975mm in the middle row, with 1,041mm of headroom. carwow rates seats six and seven as best for children and says getting in takes some agility, as the opening is small and the car sits high. Drive also finds headroom fine but legroom tighter than in the second row.
The 5+2 seats are for children. With a small opening and a tall car to climb into, the back row suits nimble school-age children rather than older relatives. Isofix is confirmed only on the outer middle-row seats, so plan for child seats in the middle row.
If adults will use the back row, see our guide to 7-seaters with the most third-row space.

Land Rover UK lists the Defender 110 from £62,915 on the road, and its D250 Standard spec sheet (which showed £62,795) covers both 5 and 5+2 seat cars, but the extra cost of the 5+2 option could not be verified, so no seven-seat price is given.

AJ20-D6 Idler Pulley Clash
A concern has been identified on certain AJ20-D6 engines where the Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) belt idler pulley may over-rotate following a high torsion input and lead to a clash with and damage to the oil pressure and temperature sensor. A damaged oil pressure and temperature sensor can lead to an oil leak from the engine which can result in a slip hazard for following road users particularly two-wheeled vehicles.
Remedy: Vehicles will have the Front-End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) idler pulley replaced.

Driver’s Airbag Potential Non-Deployment
A concern has been identified where the connector to the driver’s airbag at the clockspring may experience fretting corrosion over time. This can lead to an increased resistance in the driver’s airbag circuit potentially resulting in the airbag failing to deploy when requested to do so. An airbag which fails to deploy as-intended will increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy: Vehicles will have a protective lubricant gel applied to the driver’s airbag connector terminals.

Our verdict The Defender 110 can carry seven, but the optional 5+2 third row suits children and leaves 160 litres (dry) of boot space. Land Rover publishes no seven-seat price and the plug-in hybrid is not listed with seven seats, so confirm the exact version with a dealer before choosing it over a roomier seven-seater.
Measure your garage with the spare wheel in mind: the 110 is 4,758mm long without it and 5,018mm with it, and 1,972mm tall on coil springs or 1,967mm on air suspension. An optional front jump seat can replace the centre console, giving a six-seat layout with three across the front.
The five-star Euro NCAP rating dates from the car's 2020 launch, and Auto Express expects a retest soon. See the rest of the Land Rover 7-seater range before you decide.
160 litres with all seven seats in use, 743 litres with five seats in use and a maximum of 1,826 litres.
The Land Rover Defender 110 is 4,758mm long (4.76m, 15ft 7in), 2,008mm wide without its mirrors and 1,972mm tall.
Two: outer seats in row 2.
Not comfortably. The third row is best kept for children.
No. With seven seats the Land Rover Defender 110 is sold with diesel power only.
We could not verify what the 5+2 option adds. Land Rover lists a starting price for the Defender 110, and its D250 Standard spec sheet covers both five-seat and 5+2 cars, but neither shows a separate price for the third row, so ask a dealer to quote the exact version you want.
Land Rover's spec sheet confirms 5+2 seating for the entry D250 Standard diesel, and Auto Express and carwow both list seven-seat D350 diesels. The P300e plug-in hybrid is listed only with five or six seats, and we could not confirm whether the current P380 and P540 V8 petrols take the third row.
If you want seven seats, a diesel is the safe choice: confirm the exact version with a Land Rover dealer before you order.
Land Rover's D250 Standard spec sheet rates the 5+2 at 3,495kg braked, against 3,500kg for the five-seater, so the third row costs almost nothing in towing ability. Auto Express gives 3,000kg for plug-in hybrids.
