BMW's seven-seat people carrier, sold new from 2015 to 2021 and updated in 2018
Quick answer
Yes. UK cars have seven seats as standard, with two folding seats in the boot floor.
The 2 Series Gran Tourer has three Isofix points, but Honest John says the third row is too small for teenagers or adults. Owner reports include EGR cooler and strut top mount failures.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer 7-seater was sold new from 2015 to 2021 and updated in 2018. Do not confuse it with the five-seat 2 Series Active Tourer.
With the third-row seats up, Auto Express measures 145 litres of boot space, rising to 560 litres with them stowed. Euro NCAP never tested the Gran Tourer itself.

With all seven seats in use the boot holds 145 litres, 101 litres less than the median for the 4 new MPVs, on sale or coming soon, with a published boot figure. With five seats in use the boot holds 560 litres, rising to a maximum of 1,820 litres.
How it is measured Auto Express figures: 145 litres with the third row up, 560 litres with it stowed, 1,820 litres with the middle row folded. Honest John also quotes 1,905 litres as a maximum.
Third row suitsChildren
The two third-row seats fold out of the boot floor. Honest John says they are fine for children but too small for teenagers or adults. Carwow notes that access and knee room are both tight.
Isofix positions are described in the text.
3Isofix points
The 2 Series Gran Tourer has three Isofix points. That is enough for three Isofix child seats, though whether three fit side by side depends on the seats you choose.
On the test drive: listen for knocks from the front suspension over bumps, and ask whether the EGR cooler itself has ever been replaced, not just the recall software.

UK cars have seven seats as standard, with two folding seats in the boot floor. The 2 Series Active Tourer is a five-seater, so check which model an advert describes.
Owner reports to Honest John include EGR cooler failures despite a recall software fix, failed strut top mounts and noisy strut top bearings, and a 2015 car that needed a new dual-mass flywheel and clutch at 5,500 miles. Check the recall and repair history, and compare any DVSA MOT pass rates shown on this page with the national average for cars of the same age.
No direct replacement was confirmed in the sources we checked. BMW's seven-seat options today are large SUVs: the X5, where seven seats are optional on some versions, and the X7. For a smaller new seven-seater, see our small 7-seater cars.
