Every Toyota Highlander 7-seater pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with electric motors and a CVT automatic. UK sales began in March 2021, and Toyota UK now points buyers to its used car website instead of selling it new.

Auto Express measures 332 litres behind the third row, but carwow quotes 241 and The Car Expert 322, so view the boot with your own buggy or bags. Adults fit in the back row on shorter trips with the sliding middle row in its middle position, Auto Express says.

Third row: who fits?

Third row suitsAdults on short trips

Auto Express says adults fit on shorter trips if the sliding middle row is set in its middle position. Carwow rates the third row best for children but fine for adults on short journeys. The Car Expert would keep it for the smallest family members.

Buying a used Toyota Highlander: what to check

  • Carwow counts two recalls so far, so confirm with a Toyota dealer that any recall work has been done (carwow)
  • Carwow notes the Highlander has proved solid, with few issues, in markets where it has been on sale longer (carwow)
  • Every UK car pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with electric motors, four-wheel drive and a CVT automatic, so there is no diesel or plug-in to pick between (carwow)

Choosing one: with only one powertrain, pick on age, mileage, trim and condition, and measure the boot against your buggy or bags, because published figures vary widely.
