7-seaters with sliding doors
Every 7-seater with sliding doors on sale in the UK is a people carrier: none of the SUVs offers them. This list runs from compact van-based models such as the Citroen Berlingo XL and Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life to the Volkswagen Multivan and luxury MPVs such as the Lexus LM.
Sliding doors open without swinging into the car next to you, which helps in tight parking spaces and when lifting children into car seats. Check whether they are fitted on both sides and whether they are powered, because both vary by model and trim.

Powered or manual sliding doors
Powered sliding doors come as standard on the Lexus LM and Mercedes-Benz V-Class, and on every Denza D9, with soft close on the Denza. Others keep them for the top trim: the Kia PV5 Passenger has manual doors on Essential and Plus and powered ones on Elite, and the Toyota Proace Verso Electric adds powered doors with a kick sensor on the Excel Long. Electrifying says they are standard on the seven-seat Hyundai Staria Electric, and drive.co.uk says they are powered on Allure versions of the Peugeot E-Traveller.
Sliding doors on one side or both
Many of these cars have a sliding door on each side, but check the exact version. Peugeot's equipment list shows twin sliding side doors as standard on the E-Rifter GT and optional on the Allure, which is the only seven-seat E-Rifter Long, although reviewers describe doors on both sides. The Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life has doors that open 844mm wide, against 701mm on the shorter Caddy, and carwow says the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect's tall sliding doors make loading child seats into the middle row easy.
Sliding doors on a smaller budget
The cheapest new 7-seaters with sliding doors are compact van-based models such as the Citroen Berlingo XL, Vauxhall Combo Life Electric XL and Peugeot E-Rifter Long. If those are still too dear, the Volkswagen Sharan and Seat Alhambra had sliding rear doors and seven seats; see our used Volkswagen Sharan and used Seat Alhambra pages.
7-seaters with sliding doors: questions answered
Which 7-seater with sliding rear doors has the biggest boot with all seats up?
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class and the Mercedes-Benz EQV, with 1,030 litres each with all seven seats in use.
Which of these have a third row that fits adults?
Is there a 7-seater SUV with sliding doors?
No. None of the SUVs we list has sliding rear doors; they are found only on people carriers. Compare the two body styles on our 7-seater MPV page.
What is the cheapest 7-seater with sliding doors?
The list above is sorted by price, and the compact van-based models are the cheapest: the Citroen Berlingo XL, then electric models such as the Vauxhall Combo Life Electric XL, Citroen e-Berlingo XL and Peugeot E-Rifter Long. Sources disagree on whether the Berlingo XL is still sold with a diesel engine, so check with Citroen before you order.
Are sliding doors better for child seats?
They make it easier. A sliding door opens wide without swinging out, so you can stand in the opening to lift a child or fit a seat, even in a narrow space. Carwow says the Ford Grand Tourneo Connect's tall sliding doors make loading child seats into the middle row easy, and the Citroen Berlingo XL has three Isofix points across that row.
Do any electric 7-seaters have sliding doors?
Yes, most electric people carriers do, including the Volkswagen ID. Buzz LWB, Kia PV5 Passenger, Citroen e-Berlingo XL, Vauxhall Combo Life Electric XL, Mercedes-Benz EQV and Maxus Mifa 7. Every electric model is on our electric 7-seater cars page.
